First, I found out that Randy, Jamal’s brother, went to jail for robbing a convenience store and killing a person who was shopping there. It would cost a lot for MaMa to buy a lawyer so she can bail him out. Then, Ma Ma tells Jamal not to hang out with one of his friends, Mack. He is the neighborhood dope dealer. Then, when Jamal gets to school, he arrives late for the fourth time and the principal yells at him and he almost cries. Then, we find out that he loves drawing and he stays after school to draw a background for a play to show to his Mom.
